Mediplus to Exhibit at BAUN Section of Oncology Spring Conference

The BAUN Section of Oncology Spring Conference takes place in Bristol on Thursday 18th May and will focus on survivorship in the context of patients with urological cancers.

On stand 13 at the Exhibition Medipus will detail Osbon ErecAid products for Erectile Dysfunction, the Mediplus Suprapubic Foley Catheter Introducting Set (SPC), and CT3000 for non-invasive bladder pressure measurement in men.

The conference programme is aimed at urology and oncology nurses working in both the community and acute sectors, and nursing professionals with an interest in this sector.  The urological cancers covered include prostate, bladder, testicular, penile and renal cancer.

To complement the comprehensive list of 60+ clinical papers already published over 8 years from several countries around the world  in support of the CT3000 device for non-invasive bladder analysis in men, this new study compares CT3000 to traditional urodynamics in 5 different sites in the UK; the results suggest the ‘cuff test’ has a very high positive predictive value for diagnosing BOO and bladder contractility.

BPH Problems?

Many men who experience prostate problems will be required to undergo tests to establish whether they have bladder outlet obstruction.

Traditionally, this has involved an invasive diagnostic test (where a catheter is inserted into the penis). An NHS campaign to encourage UK specialists to adopt latest medical technology has proven a success, say its organisers, who point to the fact that more than 20,000 doctors were engaged in the six-month programme.
