Nottingham Lesion Location Set
Product Information - Nottingham Lesion Location Set
The Nottingham Lesion Location Set is an effective device for the localisation of impalpable breast lesions, and is suitable for placement by either conventional x-ray or ultrasound.
The NLLD has three components: the localisation wire, an introducing needle for use by the radiologist, and a similarly-sized and separately packed blunt cannula for surgical use.
The flexible marker wire is 270mm in length, made from 36g medical grade stainless steel. It terminates in a unique obtuse-angled barb, which counteracts pull and prevents ingress.
Introducing Needle
- Sharp introducing needle with centimetre graduations - to enable accurate wire placement
- 18g with trocar - prevents coring; ideal for stereotaxic or x-ray placement
- 20g with trocar - ideal for ultrasound or free-hand placement
Stylet
The stainless steel introducing needle is 9cm in length, with graduated centimetre markings, and is available either with stylet, in 18g size, or without, in 20g.
The separately-packed sterile blunt cannula facilitates surgical palpation of the lesion. This enables the surgeon to select the optimum surgical route for removing the lesion, typically via a radical incision around the ariola, offering the patient a superior cosmetic result.
Marker Wire
- Thin and flexible to reduce transmission of force; therefore deterring ingress of the wire after placement
- More comfortable for the patient
- Specially annealed barb to keep the wire correctly placed against normal "pull" forces
- Will not break if pulled out
- Enables the pathologist to remove the wire without damage to the specimen
Blunt Cannula
- 20g blunt cannula - enables lesion to be effectively palpated and removed via the best surgical route
- Good cosmetic result for the patient
- External graduations match sharpened needle - to assist surgeon in lesion location
